The Details – Mars Bay Bonefish Lodge: Getting Here

You will fly into FLL-Fort Lauderdale International. Upon arrival, collect your bags and proceed to FXE-Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. The taxi ride typically takes around twenty to thirty minutes, depending on traffic. Makers Air offers complimentary wifi, coffee, water, soda, and snacks. Additionally, there is an excellent airport cafe within walking distance. If you require overnight accommodation in Ft Lauderdale, there are several hotels conveniently located near FXE. Should you be driving, Makers Air provides valet service, allowing you to leave your car at no charge.

You will clear Bahamas Customs at Congo Town on arrival. I’ll arrange transportation to pick you up and carry you to the lodge. Bamm! That’s it, settle in, grab a drink, rig up your rods, and wait on dinner.

When returning, upon landing at FXE, your pilot will taxi directly to US Customs. You will unload your bags and proceed to customs for inspection. This process typically takes around ten minutes. Once cleared, you can step outside and hail a taxi to FLL for your return flight home. Alternatively, you can ask Makers Air to assist in arranging transportation to ensure a taxi awaits you.

For any additional questions or queries about your trip, please visit the Makers Air FAQs on their website. It provides comprehensive information to address all your concerns including nearby hotels that offer Makers customers discounts, etc.

See ya when you get here, Looking forward to it!!

Mars Bay Bonefish Lodge: Getting Here

FINALLY and MOST IMPORTANTLY

Did you notice how I beat the hell out of arrival and departure times? Here’s why…

Waiting to book your flights may result in a lack of availability for flights with suitable arrival and departure times; an afternoon arrival to Congo Town and a morning departure from Congo Town. Even worse, it is possible you’ll have to arrive and depart a day or two earlier or later than your confirmed fishing dates. I might be booked solid and not be able to accommodate you. It has happened.

Here’s the problem, I require stays to fall between the Saturdays. Saturday is when we rotate guests. Ten depart in the morning, ten arrive in the afternoon. If a guest books a morning arrival and afternoon departure worlds collide, it is a shit show. His room is not ready on arrival, I have to make him lunch as there is no kitchen staff during the day, and he is sitting around waiting for his room and to fish the following day. On departure, in the morning, he will have to vacate his room for cleaning to make it ready for the upcoming guests. He is sitting around all day waiting on a 4:30 PM flight.

THAT’S TWO WHOLE DAYS WASTED, SITTING AROUND. Rather than him being sad to go he is glad to leave. Please, book your flights ahead of time with the appropriate arrival and departure times. It helps lodge operations run smoothly, you’ll have a great trip, and be sad to go.
