Mars Bay Bonefish Lodge - Bahamas Bonefishing

Rules keep changing. The Bahamas is winding down the process, getting back to normalish. Disregard what the Bahamas platform says, it's not updated. Here is all you need to know......

The day two AND day five test has been discontinued.

You need a quick antigen test to ENTER the Bahamas taken within 72 hours/ 3 days before arrival. You must submit those neg tests results to get your travel visa here..... https://travel.gov.bs/  You need a test to DEPART the Bahamas/enter the states one day before departure. The cost for the departure test in included in the Travel Visa. I'll give that test here at the lodge. Do not purchase a test voucher.

Hopefully, soon, the CDC will discontinue the USA entry test. If so, the Bahamas will discontinue the test 3 day prior to arrival. That means no tests!!!

You are required two tests in the Bahamas. One on day two of your stay, the cost is included in your travel visa. You'll need a second test the day before you depart to get back into the states. That test is a USA requirement, the Bahamas does not pay for that one. When you purchase your travel visa you must purchase a $30 test voucher also. Guests continually get the two mixed up. I cannot report test results for you to return to the states without a TEST VOUCHER, a travel visa does me no good. The travel visa is only good for the day two test.

If you have been vaccinated the Bahamas will accept the rapid antigen test. If so, when testing to get your Travel Visa to come to the Bahamas be sure to get a quick antigen test, it's not as sensitive and easier to pass. Do not get the PCR test. The PCR test will detect dead virus for 6-8 weeks after getting Covid. If you have not been vaccinated you will be required to take the PCR test to get the travel visa.

Don't forget your password for your Travel Visa account.

Fully vaccinated travelers are now allowed into Bahamas without the PCR test beginning May 1. Be sure you have proof of vaccination.
Individuals who have not been fully vaccinated will still be required to obtained a negative RT PCR test to enter The Bahamas.
The USA still requires a negative test result to enter the USA. Mars Bay is a certified testing center for in-house guests, you'll be able to get that test right here at the lodge.

It won't be much longer. This will be over soon. Some patience is in order. We've remained closed for the fall season out if an abundance of caution for the guests and staff. Opening in middle of the worst spike of the worst pandemic in 100 years doesn't seem wise. We will be open for the winter/spring season 2021. We are taking bookings for mid January and February but virus projections are harsh! Bookings are sparse and at risk of cancellation, we will see. By March we intend to be running full tilt. There are a few slots open on the calendar from March forward. We will stay open through mid July to accommodate guests. By late spring/summer we'll burn our masks! The fall 2021 calendar is filling. Reserve now, I'll hold the slots, no deposit will be required until this summer.
Please be advised that until enough are vaccinated you will be required to observe basic Covid safety protocol including social distancing and masks when appropriate until we are clear of this virus. If not for yourself out of respect for others.

Step One:?You must obtain a negative COVID-19 RT PCR test within 5 days of your travel date.
Step Two:?With a negative test, you’ll then need to apply for your Bahamian travel visa. You can do that HERE. Your negative test results must be registered on the Health Visa site within five days before your arrival.  We highly recommend registering your results just as soon as you receive them.
The cost of your travel visa is dependent upon the length of your stay. You are required to opt-in for mandatory COVID-19 health insurance. This insurance will cover you for the duration of your trip in the Bahamas & the cost is included in the travel visa application fee.
Print the approved Bahamian travel visa and a copy of your negative COVID-19 RT PCR test. You’ll need it to check-in with your airline and on arrival in the Bahamas.
Step Three:?Throughout your stay with us at Andros South, you will be required to complete a daily online health questionnaire for symptom tracking purposes. Please be aware that the Bahamas government has mandated the use of face masks
Covid Protocol is that you will need a negative test dated 5 days or less from arrival. The test day is day zero. Results must be submitted to the Bahamas to get a travel visa with a QR code on it to be presented to your airline to board and at Bahamas Customs on arrival. Make a paper copy just in case but they require it presented on your smart phone, there has been some forgery.
You are required to take another test here at the lodge on day 5 if staying more than five days. I'll scan your travel visa QR code and results will be emailed to the email address associated with your travel visa. That same test will work for your re-entry into the USA.
This is important......You are required to have a NEG test result to re-enter the USA. You are NOT required to quarantine when returning to the USA, it is recommended/suggested, NOT required or mandated.

At the lodge you must exercise basic social distancing and mask rules. It just a matter of having respect for others. No mask is required in your rooms or outside on the porch except when appropriate. A mask is required elsewhere inside the lodge except at the dinner table.....go figure. On the boats please where a buff and/or mask when running. The guides are cool with no mask while wading or when they are on the platform. It would be best if you wore your buff all day, each guide will handle it differently.
